What I believe...

I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ--God's only begotten song, who came to save us from our sins, and in the Holy Spirit who is our helper, teacher and guide.
I believe in the Trinity--the God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one but exist in three persons.
I believe that it is by faith alone that I am saved and there is nothing I can do to reconcile myself back to God. Jesus, dying on the Cross and being raised up from death, brought me back into God's council.

Also, I honestly believe in the power of prayer. Before I go to sleep at night (if I don't pass out from exhaustion--I'm just being honest)I try to pray for those I love (and don't always love). I was taught a way to pray that works very well. It is called 'the five fingers of prayer.' Clasp your hands together in prayer and look down at your fingers. Work your way in from your thumb to your pinkie.

"1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin by praying for those closest to you. Our parents, spouse, our children, friends, or even estranged family members, C.S. Lewis said, "to pray for loved ones is a sweet duty." Many of us fail in this area by being pushy with our family and not remembering them in prayer.

2. The next finger is the pointer finger. Pray for those that point or show direction in our lives. Pray for those who teach, instruct, and heal. It is far easier to criticize their mistakes or failures than to pray for them. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction whether they realize it or not.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders, or people who exercise authority over us. Pray for our President, boss, or administrators that work around us. These people need the Lord in a very special way as they make laws, administer justice and enforce the law for our benefit and for the glory of God. Many of these individuals are without Jesus and need to know His grace and power.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain.

5. Lastly is our little finger; the smallest of all. This is where we should find ourselves, last of all. The Bible says, "the least shall be the greatest among us". After you have prayed for the four other groups you should be more able to pray for yourself more effectively."
